With just 25 days to go, Nairobi is looking forward to hosting the 2013 edition of the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon. This is part of 9 Standard Chartered Marathons around the world, which attract over 255,933 runners every year, all for a good cause. This year’s event is targeted at raising money to support Seeing is Believing, a Standard Chartered Bank initiative aimed at combating preventable blindness. It is also just a fun event!
This year’s marathon will be on the 27th of October 2013, and will have 4 race categories as listed here. We are excited that some of our team members will be participating in the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon, and we are looking forward to hosting runners coming to Nairobi for the race. Our hotels are conveniently located; Mvuli House is a short 3 minute walk to the marathon starting point, and Mvuli Suites is a 15 minute walk. Because we understand sports, we will have a special “Marathoners’ Dinner” the night before the race, and an early breakfast for you on the race day. Stay with us, we guarantee a great race experience.
As we wait for race day, we will be sharing race tit bits on our blog, Facebook Page and Twitter feed, all aimed at making you better prepared for the race. This year, the race route has changed slightly. While before runners would turn off at the University Way Roundabout and then go all the way down Mombasa Road (with a loop for the full marathon), this year, the route extends up the Museum Hill overpass, then loops back, and down Mombasa Road. See the routes below
If you plan to try out the route before race day, keep that in mind!
